Helping Malaysians Navigate Their Own Financial Picture

We are an educational and operational consulting team. We listen, help you map your situation clearly, and point you toward the right next step — whether that is a bank, a licensed adviser, or simply a cleaner internal process.

Our Story

Where Bijak Compass Came From

Bijak Compass grew out of a straightforward observation: many individuals and small business owners in Malaysia have access to good financial products and services, but often lack a quiet, neutral space to organise their own thinking before using them. Bank visits felt rushed. Online information was either too basic or too promotional. Families sat with piles of statements they did not fully understand.

The founders — a group of organisational consultants and adult educators based in Kuala Lumpur — decided in early 2021 to create structured sessions that treated clients as capable adults who simply needed a clear process and a patient conversation partner. Not a salesperson, not a licensed adviser, not a hotline. A facilitator.

We named the practice Bijak Compass — "bijak" meaning wise or knowledgeable in Malay, and "compass" for the instrument that shows direction without moving the vessel. That is the role we play. We help you see where you stand and which direction makes sense for you, while the decisions remain entirely yours.

Our Mission

What We Set Out to Do

Structure over guesswork

Every session follows the same three-stage method — Sound, Plot, Sail — so clients know what they will produce and take away before they even arrive.

Neutral facilitation

We have no commercial relationship with any bank, insurer, or fund manager. No session will ever include a product recommendation or a referral fee arrangement.

Honest referrals

When a client's situation calls for a licensed professional, we say so directly and share details of relevant public agencies or regulated services.

Accessible across backgrounds

Sessions are available in English and Bahasa Malaysia, in-person at our KL office or online, for individuals and for SME owners.

Our Team

The Facilitators

Our team members are adult educators and organisational consultants. None hold a financial planning or investment advisory licence, which means they can stay completely neutral in every session.

How We Work

Our Operating Standards

These are the practices we hold ourselves to in every engagement — not as formalities, but as the foundation of how the team operates.

No product sales, ever

Every facilitator is barred from recommending, introducing, or receiving remuneration for any financial product. This is written into our internal engagement policy and reviewed quarterly.

Data minimisation

We collect only what is needed for a session. Financial figures shared during a meeting are not stored after the session is complete. Full details are in our Privacy Policy.

Clear scope, written upfront

Every client receives a written session outline before the engagement begins, confirming exactly what will be covered and what falls outside our scope.

Facilitator development

Team members attend structured peer review sessions every two months, rotating role-plays based on common client scenarios to sharpen clarity and neutrality.

Consistent method

All sessions follow the Sound–Plot–Sail structure. Clients know what each stage produces and when they can expect to receive their documents.

Transparent referral practice

When a client's situation requires a licensed professional, we say so clearly, naming public resources such as AKPK or Bank Negara's consumer portal. We do not charge for referrals.

Our Approach in Detail

Financial Education That Respects Your Pace

Bijak Compass operates at a specific point in a person's financial journey — the moment before a significant decision, when clarity matters most. That might be before speaking with a bank about a loan, before restructuring a household budget following a change in income, or before an SME owner sets up a proper bookkeeping routine for the first time. In each case, the need is the same: a calm space to think through the information already in front of you.

Our sessions do not produce investment plans, tax strategies, or legal advice. They produce organised information — charts, process maps, question lists — that clients can bring to the professionals who are licensed to act on those specifics. This distinction matters, and we explain it plainly at the start of every engagement.

The household charting work we do with families draws on established adult learning principles: spacing sessions across several weeks, combining in-session work with short practice tasks, and reviewing progress at each meeting. The three-month programme is not simply six identical conversations — it builds in sequenced stages so that budgeting concepts introduced in the first session are already being applied by the third.

For SME owners, the Business Process Review focuses on the workflow layer that sits between day-to-day operations and the financial reporting a bookkeeper or accountant will eventually handle. We help owners document what actually happens in their business — who approves what, how invoices move through the system, how cash is tracked — so that handing information to a professional becomes a straightforward exercise rather than a reconstruction effort.

All sessions are offered at our Level 8 office in Maju Junction Mall, Jalan Sultan Ismail, or online via video call. The office environment was chosen for its central Kuala Lumpur location and its neutral, non-bank setting — a deliberate decision to avoid any association with financial product sales.
